Rumors about the iPhone 18 series are starting to spread, and fans are already curious about what Apple has in store for next year.
This time, the Pro models seem to focus more on refinement instead of big visual changes. Still, the rumored upgrades sound promising enough to keep the excitement alive.
Smaller Dynamic Island
One of the biggest rumors points to a smaller Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 lineup.
According to a reliable Weibo source named Instant Digital, the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, and Pro Max might feature a more compact version of the current pill-shaped cutout.
However, Apple reportedly has no plans yet for a fully hidden front camera or under-display Face ID. The technology for that setup is still being developed for future models.
Translucent MagSafe
“The leaker (Digital Chat Station) said the devices will have the same rear camera system design as the iPhone 17 Pro models, with a “plateau” housing three lenses in a triangular arrangement. They also expect the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to have the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes used since the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Notably, the leaker claimed that the Ceramic Shield area on the back of the iPhone 18 Pro models will feature a “slightly transparent design,” without elaborating.” According to MacRumors
Another interesting rumor suggests that the Pro versions could have a translucent MagSafe area at the back. This design tweak would make the circular MagSafe ring subtly visible under the glass, giving the phone a distinct yet clean look. It is not a complete redesign, but it adds a fresh touch to the familiar iPhone Pro appearance.
Improved Cameras
The iPhone 18 Pro might also introduce a variable aperture for its main 48 megapixel camera. This would allow users to adjust light intake and depth depending on the shooting situation, giving more flexibility in low-light or portrait photography.
It may not sound dramatic, but for mobile photography enthusiasts, this could make a noticeable difference.
A20 Pro Chip and Apple Modem
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to run on the new A20 Pro chip built on a 2 nanometer process. This means faster performance, better efficiency, and improved temperature control across the board.
Apple also plans to use its own C2 modem, cutting its reliance on third-party suppliers. That could lead to stronger connections and longer battery life thanks to tighter hardware integration.
Release Window
Industry insiders believe Apple could make small changes to its usual release pattern. The Pro versions are expected to arrive in late 2026, while the regular iPhone 18 might follow a few months later in early 2027.
MacRumors Analyst Ming Chi Kuo also noted that Apple could be adjusting timelines to make space for new projects, possibly including a foldable iPhone aka “iPhone Ultra“.
