Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4 is shaping up to be a budget-friendly device with some compromises. While the phone is rumored to share the same rear panel manufacturing process as the high-end iPhone 16, its internal components will reportedly be less advanced.
The device’s display is expected to be a reused iPhone 13 OLED panel with downgraded specifications to cut costs. BOE is likely to be the primary supplier, with LG potentially joining as a secondary vendor. Samsung, previously involved in a price dispute, appears to be out of the running.
To further reduce production costs, Apple is reportedly lowering the display’s specifications, potentially impacting color accuracy, brightness, and ProMotion support. This could result in a less impressive visual experience compared to newer iPhone models.
While the iPhone SE 4 is not anticipated to be a top seller for Apple, the company is aiming for a production volume of 20 million units. Despite attempts from other display manufacturers like Tianma, BOE is currently leading the race due to its technological advantage.
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to launch in early 2025, and its final pricing has yet to be revealed.
