The upcoming iQOO 16 is shaping up to be a major gaming-focused flagship, with new leaks pointing to Samsung’s latest OLED technology and advanced real-time lighting features for mobile games.

According to Digital Chat Station, the iQOO 16 could become the first Android smartphone to use Samsung Display’s latest-generation M16 emissive material alongside new-generation LEAD display technology. The same display technology is reportedly being considered for Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra.
LEAD technology reportedly removes the traditional OLED polarizing layer and replaces it with a nano-lithography filter structure. This could deliver 40% higher light transmission, 44% lower power consumption, and a 50% longer panel lifespan. It is also expected to improve viewing angles, color accuracy, power efficiency, and eye comfort.
The iQOO 16 is tipped to feature a large 6.85-inch 2K+ OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, making display quality one of its biggest upgrades.

Gaming is another major focus. The phone’s self-developed Q4 chip is said to support virtual point light sources combined with HDR, enabling more advanced real-time lighting effects in supported games. The chip could also produce game screenshots at up to 8K resolution and allow users to adjust certain visual settings. WHYLAB claims many popular games are expected to support the new features.
The iQOO 16 is expected to launch by the end of September or in early October. Previous leaks have also pointed to a redesigned camera module and a more futuristic rear panel.

For now, the iQOO 16 appears to be doubling down on three things: display quality, flagship performance, and next-level mobile gaming.
