iQOO 16 debuts as the first phone with a 2K 165Hz display.

iQOO is turning the display into a major selling point for the iQOO 16, with a world-first 2K 165Hz panel.c

iQOO has officially confirmed one of the iQOO 16’s biggest upgrades: it will be the world’s first smartphone with a 2K 165Hz display.

The panel was developed with Samsung Display and uses the new 2K LEAD 2.0 technology, Samsung’s M16 luminescent material, a custom high-refresh-rate IC, and a dedicated production line for iQOO’s flagship phones.

2K 165Hz with better color

The display offers 1.24x P3 gamut coverage with screen-by-screen calibration. iQOO says color uniformity improves by 39.6% while brightness uniformity is up 22.3% over the previous generation.

A proprietary color and brightness compensation algorithm also performs sub-pixel-level calibration. iQOO claims ±0.001 color accuracy, although independent testing will be needed to verify the real-world result.

The company also claims a 100% first-frame brightness ratio, which it says is an industry high.

Built for gaming

The iQOO 16 gets a new touch chip supporting 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling and 500Hz multi-finger sampling. Its Q-flex control technology is designed to reduce the delay between touch input and on-screen actions.

The display also supports 1,100 nits manual peak brightness, 2,800 nits global peak brightness, and up to 10,000 nits local peak brightness.

Other features include three-photosensitive full-area light sensing, an unpolarized natural-light display, full-brightness DC dimming, up to 3,300Hz PWM dimming, and a gaming glare-protection mode.

Samsung M16 makes its debut on Android

The iQOO 16 will also be the first Android smartphone to use Samsung’s M16 luminescent material. Combined with LEAD 2.0, the display is shaping up to be one of the phone’s biggest selling points.

For now, iQOO has focused on the screen. More hardware details, including the rest of the phone’s specifications and launch information, are still to come.
