iQOO 16 tipped: 8,400mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

iQOO 16 tipped: 8,400mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

8,500mAh was the rumor. 8,400mAh is the latest claim. Either way, the iQOO 16 could leave its predecessor's 7,000mAh battery far behind.

The latest information from tipster Digital Chat Station points to an 8,400mAh battery, slightly below the previously rumored 8,500mAh figure but still a substantial jump from the iQOO 15‘s 7,000mAh cell. If accurate, the new model would gain 1,400mAh of capacity while retaining the kind of high-end hardware expected from iQOO’s flagship lineup.

That bigger battery could be particularly important because the iQOO 16 is also rumored to carry a demanding 6.85-inch flat 2K display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Previous reports have linked the panel to Samsung’s latest M16 OLED technology, potentially giving the phone a way to balance its high refresh rate and resolution with improved efficiency.

Charging is expected to remain aggressive. The iQOO 16 is rumored to support 100W wired charging, matching its predecessor, while wireless charging is also expected. The final wireless charging speed remains unclear, although the iQOO 15 supports 40W wireless charging.

Performance and gaming are expected to be another major part of the package. A previous Geekbench appearance reportedly showed the phone with 16GB of RAM and Android 17, alongside an unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. The device is also rumored to include iQOO’s dedicated graphics hardware, which could help push its high-refresh-rate and gaming ambitions further.

Other rumored features include a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 and IP69 protection, and a 50MP main camera using OmniVision’s OV50Q sensor. Digital Chat Station has also hinted at a redesigned camera module, suggesting the iQOO 16 could look noticeably different from its predecessor.

The 8,400mAh battery may be the headline for now, but it also tells a bigger story. iQOO appears to be preparing a flagship designed to handle a power-hungry 165Hz 2K display and serious gaming hardware without constantly hunting for the nearest charger.

The iQOO 16 is expected to launch soon, although iQOO has yet to officially confirm its final specifications.
