High refresh rate displays and huge batteries are becoming the norm for gaming phones, and the rumored iQOO Neo12 could be taking both to the next level.
According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the iQOO Neo12 is currently being tested with a 6.83-inch flat display featuring a 2K resolution and a minimum 165Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, iQOO is also reportedly evaluating an even faster 185Hz refresh rate, which could make it one of the highest refresh rate displays on a smartphone.
Under the hood, the handset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The leak also claims the device will include a dedicated display chip to further improve gaming performance and graphics processing.
Battery life could be another major highlight. The engineering prototype is said to feature a battery capacity beginning with the digit “9,” indicating it could pack more than 9,000mAh. iQOO is reportedly testing an even larger battery configuration while retaining support for 100W fast charging.
Other rumored features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and a top-tier water resistance rating, although the exact IP certification has yet to be revealed.
Camera specifications remain unknown at this point. However, since the Neo12 is expected to continue the series’ performance-first approach, it could inherit the camera setup of last year’s Neo 11, consisting of a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 16MP front-facing camera.
The latest leak arrives as iQOO prepares several flagship launches for the Chinese market. The company is expected to unveil the Dimensity 9500-powered iQOO Neo 11S next month, while the iQOO 16 and iQOO Neo12 are both anticipated to debut later this year.
Although Digital Chat Station did not reveal a launch timeline for the Neo12 , previous reports suggest the smartphone could be announced in October.
