The iPhone SE 4 is expected to launch on February 11, alongside the update to the Powerbeats Pro line.

Despite the low-key approach to launching the device, with rumors pointing to a press release instead of a full-fledged event, the iPhone SE 4 will reportedly signal a major shift in Apple’s smartphone strategy, marking a lot of firsts for the series, according to Apple pundit Mark Gurman.
iPhone SE 4 leading the charge
From what we’ve seen from the leaks, the SE 4 will adopt a design similar to the iPhone 14, marking the end for the Touch ID, which was first introduced in the iPhone 5s. Instead, the device will feature the now common Face ID, eliminating the huge top and bottom bezels that the previous iPhone SE had.
Along with the redesign, the SE 4 is also rumored to feature the first Apple 5G modem chips, breaking away from Apple’s use of Qualcomm 5G modem chips on their iPhones. Additionally, the SE 4 is reported to have 8GB of RAM to make way for Apple Intelligence, which you can only use in the iPhone 16 series.
Apple’s chance to retake the mid-range segment
The device is expected to fill the gap that most Android phones have taken advantage of. Apple is reportedly targeting the Chinese and Indian markets, where Apple faces stiff competition from major Android brands such as Samsung, Google, HUAWEI, and Xiaomi.
Apple’s make or break moment
Apple is taking quite the gamble with their strategy, especially with the use of their in-house 5G modem chips. If the chips fail to deliver, users might face connectivity issues, further adding to Apple’s woes. But, if it pans out, Apple might inevitably move away from Qualcomm’s chips to save on production costs.
It remains to be seen if Apple’s plans succeed or not. One thing’s for sure: the SE 4 is shaping up to be a worthy contender to the mid-range segment.
