OnePlus may be heading toward its biggest change yet. A new report claims the company could soon leave Europe and the US, ending its presence in two of its biggest markets.
The rumor comes after months of reports suggesting OnePlus was becoming more closely tied to OPPO. While the company has denied similar claims before, the latest report says an official announcement could happen this week.
The rumors have been building for months
Back in January, reports claimed OPPO was slowly shutting down OnePlus’ global business. OnePlus quickly denied the rumor, saying its operations and customer support would continue as normal.
In the following months, more reports suggested OnePlus was changing its global strategy. Some senior OnePlus executives also reportedly left the company’s European division, adding to speculation about the brand’s future.
OnePlus could leave Europe and the US
According to a new report, OPPO and OnePlus are preparing major changes to their business strategy, with OnePlus reportedly set to stop launching new products in Europe and the US. The report says OnePlus won’t disappear completely.
Instead, it could continue operating in China and India as an OPPO sub-brand, focusing mainly on affordable smartphones and tablets instead of premium flagship devices.
If that happens, the upcoming OnePlus 15 could become the brand’s last flagship smartphone for global markets.
