The first benchmark run of the Kirin 9030 has appeared online, and it gives us a clearer picture of HUAWEI’s next major chipset. According to the leaked Geekbench result, the chip uses a nine core CPU design paired with the new Maleoon 935 GPU. It was reportedly tested inside a Mate 80 Pro Max unit.


The benchmark shows a single core score of 1131 and a multi core score of 4277. These numbers are not final since the tipster who shared the results mentioned that the chip was not running at its full operating frequency during the test. In short, this early result is only a preview of what the Kirin 9030 might deliver when fully tuned.
A New Nine Core Layout and Maleoon 935
The Kirin 9030 brings a new internal structure with a one plus four plus four layout.
One performance core runs at 2.75 GHz, four mid cores run at 2.27 GHz, and four efficiency cores sit at 1.72 GHz.
This marks a shift from the eight core design used in the Kirin 9020. The new layout suggests HUAWEI is aiming for a smoother balance between performance and power efficiency.
The GPU portion of the chip uses the Maleoon 935, which is a follow up to the Maleoon 920 used in the previous generation. If the improvements hold true, this should offer better gaming performance and more stable graphics for intensive apps.
Built on a Seven Nanometer Process
Reports claim that the Kirin 9030 is manufactured on a seven nanometer process. This suggests that HUAWEI is focusing on consistent production and efficiency rather than chasing smaller and more expensive nodes.
Early estimates point to a possible twenty percent performance improvement over the previous Kirin generation, though no official numbers have been released.
If the final version of the Kirin 9030 performs as expected, HUAWEI could be setting up a strong foundation for the Mate 80 series and other future devices.
The nine core layout may help with multitasking, and the new GPU could push graphics performance further without a major hit to battery life.
Even so, this early benchmark shows that the Kirin 9030 is still behind the most powerful chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek. The more important question is whether HUAWEI has tuned the chip for real world stability rather than raw benchmark numbers.
