It looks like we’re inching closer and closer to the launch of the highly anticipated foldable from vivo.
A hint of things to come?
The foldable, rumored to be the follow-up to last year’s X Fold3, just popped up on a bunch of certification platforms. Specifically, Singapore’s IMDA and Malaysia’s SIRIM platforms. The appearance of the X Fold5 on these platforms suggests that we might get a global launch this time around.
As you may have known, most of vivo’s foldable have largely remained exclusive in the Chinese market. Understandably so, because China makes up the largest market of foldable on the planet. However, we still do think that a global release might make it a serious challenger in the competitive foldable phone segment worldwide.
Finally, a useful foldable
But that’s not all that the regulatory listings gave us insights into; it also gave us a peek as to just how big the battery is and how fast it charges. The 3C certification confirms the existence of a 6,000 mAh battery paired with 90W of fast wired charging. In addition, it also has 30W of wireless charging.
Coming in guns blazing
Regarding the chipset and other exciting bits, industry insiders have reported that under the hood, the X Fold5 will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Coupled that with a large 8.03-inch 2K+ 120Hz AMOLED inner display and a 6.53-inch FHD+ 120Hz LTPO AMOLED cover display and you have an entertainment beast.
For the camera, it is rumored to boast a sophisticated triple 50 MP camera system, featuring ZEISS optics. So, in addition to the flagship-worthy performance and immersive experience brought by the display, you also carry the mobile photography heritage that it holds in collaboration with ZEISS.
Of course, as a foldable, durability is of the utmost importance, which is why vivo decided to include an IPX8 rating to protect the slim 4.33mm unfolded profile of the X Fold5.
If vivo goes ahead with the global launch of the X Fold5, we think that it would make a fine addition to the list of foldables to watch out for.
