Lenovo Pulls The Curtains on New Tablets: Will We Soon See A New Legion Tab and Idea Tab Pro?

In a launch event in China, Lenovo unveiled a trifecta of powerful tablets that are ready to compete with other, more expensive tablets of this caliber. The trio includes the Xiaoxin Pro 13, Xiaoxin Pro GT 13, and the 5th generation Legion Y700 gaming tablet.

Let me tell ‘ya, these tablets don’t play around, but you could definitely play on them.

The Stars of the Show

What is undoubtedly the star of the show are two new Xiaoxin models. The Xiaoxin Pro 13 and Xiaoxin Pro GT 13 both come equipped with a 13-inch 3.5K LCD display, good for anything from movie watching, productivity, hell, even gaming.

Both also feature a 144Hz refresh rate and a 12-bit color depth. Brightness leaves a lot to be desired at 800 nits peak, but let’s be honest, you wouldn’t really use a 13 inch tablet under the searing sun.

Behind the large displays lie two different processors, but powerhouses nonetheless. The Pro 13 features the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with a 10,200 mAh battery and 45W charging backing it up.

On the other hand, the Pro GT 13 features the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite with up to a 12,000 mAh battery and faster 68W charging. Both run on Android 16, although there’s no news about the tablet’s software support.

Small But Mighty

Playing with the big boys is the small but mighty 5th-gen Legion Y700. Don’t let the 8.8-inch form factor fool you because this tablet packs a powerful punch. I mean it is still the go to compact gaming tablet that you can buy on the market, not that there’s a lot…

Last year’s Y700 featured the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Now, it bumps that up to the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, followed by a blistering 165Hz refresh rate and a 9,000 mAh battery. The whole package is cooled with Lenovo’s Coldfront Vapor chamber cooling system.

Even with the current RAM shortage, Lenovo offers consumers the option to kit their Y700 (Gen 5) with up to 24GB of LPDDR5T RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage, WITH an option to expand the storage via a microSD slot. Bangis!

The Golden Question

The Xiaoxin line has always been a China exclusive line from Lenovo, but from time to time, the company does make it a habit to bring more or less the same device to the global market under the Idea Tab line.

With that in mind, there’s no doubt that a new Idea Tab Pro is on the deck for Lenovo. The only question is when? For now, we’ll just wait for Lenovo Philippines’ announcement.

Pricing

Both the Xiaoxin tablets can be fitted with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. Prices for the Xiaoxin Pro 13 start at CNY 2,499 (or around ₱21,844) for the 8/256GB variant and go up to CNY 3,299 (or around ₱28,837) for the 12/512GB variant.

Meanwhile, the Xiaoxin Pro GT 13 starts at CNY 2,799 (or around ₱24,467) for the 8/256GB model and goes up to CNY 3,599 (or around ₱31,460) for the 12/512GB variant. And as for the Legion Y700 (Gen 5), it starts at CNY 3,999 (or around ₱34,859) for the 12/256GB variant, while the top of the line model with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage goes for CNY 5,999 (or around ₱52,292).
