LineageOS is an Android 12-based alternative for people who want to maximize the use of their devices. It’s useful for older devices where there’s a need to access newer Android features.
The OS is open-source, meaning developers can contribute to the code for additional features. LineageOS also allows users to uninstall bloatware that slows down phones, and some pre-installed apps that rarely get used.
It’s good news for POCO X3 Pro users as well, as Xiaomi is notorious for providing inconsistent software updates to phones. This only means devices can last longer than two years and there’s no need to replace still-functioning ones.
If you’re not a fan of being tracked, LineageOS also doesn’t rely on a multitude of Google Apps. This can be a good alternative to buying phones that have entirely removed themselves from the Google ecosystem, such as the Murena One, which come with its own e/OS.
So far, these are some of the phones compatible with LineageOS:
- Essential Phone
- Oneplus 9
- Oneplus 9 Pro
- POCO X3 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy S10 Series
- Xiaomi Mi A1
But before you go flashing your phone for the custom LineageOS, make sure you know how to, or else risk it becoming a plastic brick. Some of the phones mentioned above aren’t compatible with Android 12.1 or Android 12L, so if you really want the latest features, install LineageOS 9 instead.
LineageOS was released 2 months ago and has gone on to provide people a more customizable experience with their smartphones, making it one of the best-made ROMS out there.
