Can you believe it?

Not a year has passed since the launch of the vivo V60 5G and here we are, already talking about the new vivo V70 5G.

Although the vivo V60 5G experienced a stronger showing in sales than its predecessor, the V50, it wasn’t as big of a leap as we’d hoped it’d be in the technical sense, if you catch my drift. Think of it like a mid-year refresh till the next big thing comes.

That next big thing is the vivo V70 5G, back with a new design, better internals, improved camera, and a new take on the smartphone experience. You can still expect the same premium and luxurious feel that the V series line has been known for, but minus that hoity-toity sentiment.

The vivo V70 5G doesn’t just want to be a smartphone, it wants to be your companion in the good (and bad) things in life. And in those moments in life, you want a way to perfectly capture the essence of that moment and immortalize it.

Back then, that kind of perfection only comes from a full-fledged camera and years of photography skills. Now, that ceases to be the case as the vivo V70 5G’s ZEISS co-engineered optics lets you point and shoot without having to take your attention off that moment.

The Golden Eye: The ZEISS Optics

At the heart of the vivo V70 5G is a triple-camera system co-engineered with ZEISS: a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP telephoto, and an 8 MP ultra-wide lens. The ZEISS logo is not just there for show, it plays a big role in how the V70 tells a story.

For a while now, low light and zoom are the two biggest hurdles in mobile photography. There’s a certain look in photos taken from a phone as opposed to a photo taken with a dedicated camera. But vivo has been hard at work changing that perception, and the vivo V70 5G certainly reflects that.

Thanks to the newer and overall better Sony LYT 700V sensor that the vivo V70 5G uses for its main camera, the V70 now retains more of the warmth and texture you usually lose in low-light scenes. Highlights are also better controlled in high-contrast environments like sunsets or stage lighting.

While the 50 MP telephoto, powered by Sony’s IMX882 sensor, pushes up to 10x zoom without losing too much detail. Combine that with features like AI Stage Mode which help stabilize and optimize shots when you’re shooting from a distance.

Even in video, the vivo V70 5G manages to wow, all thanks to a V70 first feature, 4K at 60fps. Left the big camera at home? No worries because with the vivo V70 5G, every golden moment will be captured exactly as you remember them.

Intuitively Intelligent: Polishing the Memories

It’s important to capture memories that stay true to how you remember them, to stay authentic, but sometimes these moments happen so fast that you won’t be in control of everything in that moment. I mean we’re only humans, we can only take in so much.

Thankfully, smartphones nowadays are equipped with their own flavor of AI to manage those shortcomings. Although in my experience, not every AI is made equal, some are more useful than others.

A full view of the "About phone" screen on the vivo V70 5G. It lists key specs: OriginOS 6, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Octa-core processor, 256 GB storage, 8 GB + 8 GB RAM, and a 6500 mAh battery.

vivo on the other hand, through OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16), introduces a ton of AI features that are far more practical than what you’d find in other, more expensive smartphones. Not to mention the other non-AI features like vivo’s One Tap Transfer and Origin Island that makes the experience more seamless.

Case in point, vivo’s AI Magic Weather which can be a bit misnomer because it does more than just tweak bad weather, it also lets you correct composition and remove unwanted things in the background with just a tap of a finger.

There’s also AI Magic Landscape that makes the background you’re in pop without looking too processed. And for video, there’s AI Audio Noise Eraser that drowns out unnecessary noise from your video and isolates the vocals that are most important to you.

The Golden Standard

Aside from the camera which we all know vivo is known for, battery is another of their strong suits. Sure, on paper it’s the same amount as the V60 5G but if you factor in all of the new, more efficient internals, the vivo V70 5G becomes a “set it and forget it” kind of gadget.

A hand holding the vivo V70 5G displaying the Battery settings menu. The screen shows 2% battery remaining with an estimate of 1 hour and 30 minutes left, highlighting the "Super Battery Saver" mode.

That’s even more impressive considering that the 6,500 mAh BlueVolt battery fits in a package that only weighs 194 g and measures only 7.59 mm. Imagine that, you have the power of a mirrorless camera that looks premium and built tough (rated with an IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance) that won’t break the bank.

Just from our testing, the vivo V70 5G managed to last 25 hours and 27 mins. The only time you’ll need to plug it in is maybe after a day or two which only takes less than an hour because of the 90W FlashCharge, so you’ll have more time to do the things you love.

A Golden Moment You Can Hold

Beyond the powerful cameras and long battery life, vivo understands that moments aren’t just meant to be stored away in a gallery, only to be seen when remembered, they’re meant to be felt.

That’s where the vivo x POP MART Zsige Flip Card comes in.

Included as a limited-edition collectible, the Zsige Flip Card adds a playful, nostalgic touch to the vivo V70 5G experience. Known for its whimsical and emotionally expressive characters, POP MART’s Zsige perfectly symbolizes the V70’s goal of preserving golden moments.

Think of it as a physical reminder of the memories you capture digitally, a keepsake that you can tuck in your pocket or displayed on your desk, all without having to worry about damaging it or losing it.

Because sometimes, the best moments aren’t just saved in 4K… they’re kept close.

The Trade-Offs… Kinda

No phone is perfect, everyone knows that. Even the best phones have a weakness somewhere and the vivo V70 5G’s weakness is in its chipset. On paper the retention of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 may seem like a cop out but if you look closely, vivo made improvements elsewhere.

An angled shot of the phone's screen displaying an AnTuTu Benchmark V11.0.9 score of 1,419,279, highlighting the device's high-end processing power.

Those improvements can be seen in the form of a faster LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage which matters more if you think about it. A faster chipset can only take you so far but a better memory and storage can vastly improve the overall feel of a device.

Plus, the vivo V70 5G isn’t really made out to be a gaming device. Sure, it can handle most games, even going as far as handling a demanding title like Genshin Impact but its primary focus is camera so make of that what you will.

Final Thoughts

Sure, the vivo V70 5G may not be the fastest smartphone around and it’s not pretending to be one. Instead, it focuses on what many users care about most, capturing meaningful moments without getting lost in the technicalities.

The vivo V70 is available at a price starting at Php 31,999. Pre-order now in vivo stores nationwide and enjoy Php 2,000 off as well as limited edition freebies such as vivo VIP Card and vivo Buds Air3. You can also pre-order online on vivo website, Shopee, and Lazada.

That’s not to say that it isn’t powerful because it still is, but where it pours all its resources is into having a great camera, intelligent software, and long-lasting battery. So, for users who value those strengths over raw performance numbers then the vivo V70 5G would make a great companion.

Because at the end of the day, smartphones are just tools in our arsenal, and the way we judge them is in how well they fit into our lives, and how faithfully they preserve the moments we don’t get to relive twice.
