Oh, how time flies… We’re nearing the start of the -ber months, which means we’re only a quarter away from the end of the year. But for phone companies, the good times are just starting to roll.
Chipset Showdowns on the Horizon

Just recently, we reported that Qualcomm is about to hold their annual Snapdragon Summit this coming September 23, where we’ll see the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
Also, let’s not forget about MediaTek, which will be unveiling their answer to the 8 Elite 2—the 9500—a day early on September 22, according to renowned leaker Digital Chat Station.
The flagship phones that will first feature these behemoths will come either a few months after the launch. However, it’ll be quite a few months before we get to see them on Philippine shores.
It’s Not Just About Speed—It’s About Power
Exciting as it is, our topic for today isn’t really the upcoming flagship chipsets but the battery that’s powering the phones. According to the rumor mill, both realme and OnePlus have been cooking something in the kitchen.

Mostly in regard to the battery capacity of their upcoming GT 8 and Ace 6 phones, which have been reported to feature a massive battery at around 8,000 mAh. And yes, we hear you—they weren’t the first to feature such a massive battery.
That HONOR (get it…?) goes to the HONOR Power, which debuted in April. But it’s more of a mid-range phone than a flagship like realme and OnePlus’ GT and Ace series.

What We Know So Far
There’s really not much information about the two phones other than a few leaks here and there. Apart from the battery, the only thing we know about the Ace 6 is that it’ll feature a 165Hz 1.5K display, while we have yet to know more about the upcoming GT 8.
Looking Ahead to 2026
It looks like 2026 will be a year for phone endurance, with more and more manufacturers opting to squeeze massive batteries inside their offerings. On the other hand, you also have manufacturers making ridiculously thin and light devices—at the cost of having a small battery.
