From static images to dynamic videos – that’s the expected results from the collaboration between MediaTek and Kuaishou.
MediaTek has designed the Dimensity 9300 and 8300 with AI in mind. The Dimensity 9300 comes with hardware-level Generative AI support, while Dimensity 8300 features the NPU 780. Nevertheless, these processors are soon to receive support for a video creation feature powered by AI.
MediaTek is collaborating with Kuaishou Technology, an internet firm, to bring the image-to-video technology to the 7th generation NPU of Dimensity CPUs.
It involves the Kuaishou I2V-Adapter plug-and-play diffusion module. Once available, a smartphone powered by either Dimensity 9300 or 8300 can create videos from static images. Gen-AI makes sure that the conversion and creation are seamless.
The idea seems fitting in the growing market for short videos; remember your social media favorites? Meaning, content creators and social media users can easily create videos out of static images they have on their phones. No need for advanced editing skills or even expensive editing tools to make shorts.
The collaboration between the two firms may launch on Kuaishou’s video-sharing platform Kwai, which is similar to CapCut and TikTok.
This isn’t the first time MediaTek discussed Gen-AI features on those processors. Earlier this year, the company announced the integration and optimization of Gemini Nano on Dimensity 9300 and 8300. Gemini Nano is an AI model and part of Pixel phones.
