The anticipation for next-generation flagship processors continues to build. Following leaked benchmarks for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 has now made its debut on Geekbench.
While this time it’s not a traditional CPU test, the AI benchmark scores offer a glimpse into the Dimensity 9400’s capabilities. The chip scored 1,501 points in Single Precision, 1,906 points in Half Precision, and 1,793 points in Quantized tasks. Given the novelty of Geekbench’s AI benchmark, direct comparisons with competitors like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are currently limited.
The benchmark results confirm the Dimensity 9400’s octa-core CPU configuration. This three-cluster setup comprises a single high-performance Cortex-X5 core at 3.63 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.80 GHz, and four Cortex-A725 cores at 2.10 GHz.
While the Dimensity 9400’s peak clock speed of 3.63 GHz may seem less impressive compared to rumored figures for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Apple’s A18 series, previous leaks suggest significant performance gains. MediaTek claims a 30% performance boost, 35% better energy efficiency, and a remarkable 40% improvement in AI performance. Whether these gains will be sufficient to compete with Qualcomm and Apple remains to be seen.
The wait for a definitive answer may not be long. Vivo’s X200 series is expected to be the first smartphone powered by the Dimensity 9400, with a potential launch in early October. Oppo’s Find X8 line is also rumored to feature this powerful chip.
