A couple of days after appearing on the Tecno Camon 30S Pro, the MediaTek Helio G100 is officially announced. It’s positioned as a successor to the rather popular Helio G99 but comes with very minor performance increases.
The central architecture remained more or less the same; it inherited the same CPU and GPU as its predecessor. One of the biggest upgrades is perhaps in the fact that it supports 200-megapixel main cameras, proving the evident trend toward higher-megapixel sensors. Other camera features, like dual shooting and video capturing, were carried over from the G99.
Elevator Mode will be one of the main features to be introduced by the Helio G100, which quickly re-establishes cellular signal when exiting areas with weak coverage.
The Helio G100 is actually a modest upgrade, but this very same set of priorities—with tweaks for camera capabilities and the presence of Elevator Mode—may set its sights on glory in mid-range smartphones, especially those targeting markets focused on these features.
