MediaTek is shaking up the Chromebook market with its latest flagship chip, the Kompanio Ultra 910—a powerhouse designed to bring high-end performance, cutting-edge AI capabilities, and exceptional efficiency to the next generation of Chromebooks.
This marks MediaTek’s first major push into the premium Chromebook space. Unlike competitors relying on ARM’s traditional big.LITTLE CPU design—which balances performance and efficiency cores—the Kompanio Ultra 910 features an all-big-core architecture for uncompromised power. Despite this, efficiency isn’t sacrificed; built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, the chip delivers a perfect blend of performance and battery life, promising up to 20 hours on a 60Wh battery.
At the heart of its AI capabilities is an 8th-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering up to 50 TOPS, enabling Chromebooks to handle demanding on-device AI tasks. For graphics, the 11-core Immortalis-G925 GPU supports ray tracing, making it a serious contender for multimedia and gaming applications.
Connectivity is another highlight—since Chromebooks thrive on web-based applications, the Ultra 910 supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, ensuring seamless, high-speed connectivity.
By investing in Chromebook innovation, MediaTek is redefining what these devices can be. No longer just affordable student-friendly machines, Chromebooks are now stepping into the realm of serious computing, challenging the dominance of Intel and Qualcomm in the space.
