Orbit your way to perfect stills with the gear-tracked rear cameras of the Meizu Lucky 08.
Flagship smartphones have powerful rear cameras that can zoom in at long distance targets with incredible clarity. Although not super clear compared to close-ups, you can still see and determine details.
However, these devices usually have static cameras or fixed in their positions. What if they can actually be moved? That’s what Meizu wants to prove.
The Chinese brand is expected to announce the new Meizu Lucky 08, a flagship AI smartphone with orbiting rear cameras. According to a report, it has only two cameras at the back and the bigger one seems fixed on its position. The smaller one will orbit the larger lens using a gear.
While we don’t know what those lenses are, an orbiting lens that can shift its position may improve targeting. If that lens supports a wider field of view, the user can actually change the direction of an ultra-wide shot via a different perspective.
There’s not much known about the Meizu Lucky 08 aside from its 6,000 mAh battery and Flyme AIOS. Popular tipster DigitalChatStation leaked that the price is CNY 1,999 or around PHP 15K.
The Meizu Lucky 08 will be unveiled in China this month.
