Meta adds AI magic to Instagram Stories with Restyle tool

Instagram users now have a fresh editing option: the Restyle feature, powered by Meta Platforms’s AI. The update brings advanced photo and video editing directly into Instagram Stories.

Meta adds AI magic to Instagram Stories with Restyle tool

How Restyle (AI Tool) Works

Open Instagram, select a photo or video for your Story, and tap the new Restyle icon. You’ll see options to add, remove, or change elements in your media using a simple prompt. For example: “add a crown on the girl’s head”, “change lighting to dramatic”, or “in Paris at night.”

If you’re working with a video, Instagram provides ready-made preset effects like snow or fire. You can apply these before posting.

Friend or follower edits can be shared easily too: using an “Add Yours” sticker means others can tap it to apply the same edits to their own Stories.

Editing just got easier. With Restyle built into Stories, you no longer need to leave the app or switch to an external editor for advanced tweaks. You can turn ordinary content into something more creative, all within a few taps.

For creators, marketers, and casual users alike this is a shift: the barrier between content idea and final result just dropped. Instagram is reinforcing its position as not just a social platform but a creative hub.

Restyle is rolling out gradually, so global availability may vary.

By using Meta AI for these edits, you also agree to Meta’s AI terms of service, which may include analysis of images and facial features to generate or modify content.

For users concerned with privacy or data usage, it may be worth reviewing what you allow when you tap into these AI features.
