Motorola has officially unveiled the Moto G87, positioning it as the successor to last year’s Moto G77 and a notable upgrade across display, camera, durability, and software. The new device aims to bring flagship-like features into the mid-range segment, headlined by a massive 200MP camera and one of the brightest displays in its class.
200MP camera takes center stage
The biggest highlight of the Moto G87 is its 200-megapixel main camera, equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Ultra Pixel technology. Motorola claims this setup improves light sensitivity by up to 16 times, enhancing low-light photography while also enabling 2x lossless zoom.
Supporting the main sensor is an 8MP ultrawide camera (f/2.2), while the front features a 32MP selfie shooter for photos and video calls. Camera features include Auto Smile Capture and Portrait Mode across multiple focal lengths (24mm, 35mm, and 50mm). The device also integrates Google Photos tools such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Reimagine, and Auto Frame.
Brighter and sharper AMOLED display
The Moto G87 is equipped with a 6.78-inch 1.5K Extreme AMOLED display with a 1272 x 2772 resolution, delivering a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola notes that this resolution is 17% higher than standard Full HD, offering sharper visuals.
One of its standout traits is brightness, reaching up to 5000 nits peak, making it highly usable even under direct sunlight. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Performance, battery, and software
Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 (6nm) processor, featuring 2x Cortex-A76 cores at 2.5GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 cores at 2GHz, paired with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
The Moto G87 comes in 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4x RAM variants, with 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD. Motorola also includes RAM Boost, allowing virtual memory expansion up to 24GB.
Fueling the device is a 5200mAh battery with 30W TurboPower charging.
Out of the box, the phone runs Android 16, making it one of the early devices to ship with the latest version of Android.
Audio, connectivity, and durability
The Moto G87 is equipped with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio support, and USB Type-C audio. Motorola claims audio output is up to 280% louder than the previous generation.
Connectivity options include 5G, dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It also features an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Durability is another strong focus. The device carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H certification. It is rated to withstand drops from up to 1.2 meters.
In terms of design, the Moto G87 measures 164.58 x 77.37 x 7.38mm and weighs 183g.
Pricing and availability
The Moto G87 starts at €399 (₱28,640*). Motorola has confirmed that the device will roll out across EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and LATAM (Latin America) regions in the coming weeks.
