The Motorola Moto X40 is expected to launch on December 15 as the company announced via a social media post on Thursday.
The Moto X40 is the company’s latest flagship, succeeding the Moto X30 which launched in India as the Moto Edge 30 Pro. The smartphone will be launched first in China, before it gets to the rest of the world.
Motorola, which is now a subsidiary of Lenovo, announced the launch date on Weibo with a poster that kind of reveals the design of the smartphone. Apart from that, there is no additional information confirming the smartphone. However, there is still a week to go for the launch event, and the company may keep fans on a drip feed of information to hype the phone up. However, thanks to leaksters, most of the specs about the smartphone have been leaked on the internet.
What are the specs and features?
Thanks to Digital Chat Station we now have an idea of what specs to expect for the Moto X40. The leak shows that the flagship smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Moto X40 will also sport a Full HD+ display, and based on the teaser, it looks like a curved display at that. Additionally, the tipster revealed the smartphone will carry a 50-megapixel primary camera.
The smartphone is also expected to have two 50-megapixel cameras and one 12-megapixel camera to complete the rear setup and a whopping 60-megapixel front facing camera for taking selfies.
The smartphone was also spotted on China’s 3C certification database with the model number XT2301-5 which revealed that the smartphone will feature 68W fast charging.
Price and availability
The Moto X40 will be the successor to the Moto X30 which launched at a price of RMB 3,199 (roughly Php 25,400). So it’s we can safely assume that the price will be around or slightly above that figure.
As stated before, the launch is expected to happen on the 15th of December.
