Evan Blass has shared renders and short videos of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. Note that the naming scheme in the US is slightly different, so this should appear as the Moto Edge+ (2023)
Based on the various renders leaked by Evan Blass, the phone has a premium look. Equipped with a beastly hardware, this phone is very well be the definition of a flagship phone so far.
The 165Hz refresh rate display is one of the highlights of the X40, alongside its processor, this makes it extremely suitable for gaming and an immersive viewing experience. Said display is 6.7” in size, a 10-bit OLED panel with 1,080 x 2,400px resolution (20:9) and has curved sides. Connoisseurs will love to watch their favorite series because of the large display.
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is powered by a SD 8 Gen 2 with up to 12GB of RAM. The battery is a 4,600mAh power cell with 125W fast wired charging and 15W wireless (note that last year there were some difference between the X30 and Edge 30 Pro). We would rather have a larger battery however, because the phone will consume a lot of energy just from its 165Hz display.
The X40 (and presumably the Moto Edge 40 Pro) is equipped with a 50MP main camera (1/1.55” sensor, OIS), a 50MP ultra wide (117°) and a 12MP zoom camera (2x). On the front, there is a 60MP selfie camera inside a centered punch hole. Camera performance is unknown as of the moment but based on the specifications alone, the image and video quality will be superb.
The phone will have stereo speakers (with Dolby Audio) and is water resistant (the X40 is rated IP68).
There’s no word on when Motorola will unveil the Edge 40 Pro globally. It should be joined by other models as well (e.g. an Edge 40), though without an X40 Pro, there probably will be no follow-up to the Edge 30 Ultra.
