Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7, hitting the stage at Unpacked on July 9th. While we’re all hyped for the usual foldable fireworks – slick design, powerful chip – some early whispers are painting a less-than-perfect picture, especially where it counts for daily life.
Let’s just say, if these leaks are true, the Z Fold7 might have some… flimsy spots.
First up: the battery. Apparently, this new super-expensive foldable is rocking a 4,272 mAh battery. Quick math: that’s less than what the Z Fold 6 advertised. In a world where phone batteries are constantly getting bigger, and foldables are battery hogs by nature, this feels like a serious head-scratcher. And to add insult to injury? Still stuck on 25W wired charging. Seriously, Samsung? My mid-range phone charges faster than that! Rivals are packing 5,000mAh+ and charging at ludicrous speeds while you’re still on dial-up.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 Still Supports iP48 Only Rating.

Then there’s the durability. Prepare for the grand return of the IP48 rating. For those not fluent in IP codes, this basically means “don’t expect it to love dust, and water is still a touchy subject.” Translation: fine for a splash, but a dusty pocket or an accidental dip could spell trouble. Meanwhile, other premium phones (and even some competing foldables) are rocking full IP68, meaning they’re basically ready for a swim and a sandstorm. It’s like buying a high-end sports car but being told not to drive it in the rain or on a gravel road.
So, while the Z Fold 7 will no doubt be a marvel of thinness and processing power, these glaring “features” might just leave a dent in its premium appeal. Are we still playing it this safe with durability and power on a phone that costs as much as a small vacation? We’ll see how Samsung spins it on July 9th!
