To promote its thinness, the iPhone 17 Slim will just have a single camera at the back.
iPhone Plus models have been around since the iPhone 6 to offer users a bigger screen. However, it appears to be losing its ground in Apple’s lineup, rumoredly linked to unimpressive shipments.
A new rumor has made its way telling about the iPhone Plus’ replacement – the iPhone Slim. It’s reportedly first launching with the iPhone 17 Series, replacing the iPhone 17 Plus with iPhone 17 Slim.
The alleged iPhone 17 Slim was leaked by industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Based on their claim, this iOS smartphone features the following specs:
- 6.6 inches screen
- 1260 x 2740 resolution
- A19 chipset
- Dynamic Island
- Apple in-house 5G chipset
They didn’t reveal what type of display panel will be used on iPhone 17 Slim but the Dynamic Island is akin to current iPhones. The main chip, A19 Pro, is the same one to be used on iPhone 17 Pro models.
The build is interesting too. Being “slim,” the iPhone 17 Slim will have a titanium alloy, in-house 5G chip, and a single rear camera. Yes, just one camera at the back.
Kuo said that the iPhone 17 Slim “will emphasize innovative form factor design rather than competing on hardware specifications.” Although fast and capable, it’s designed for those who prefer lightweightness, design, and certain lifestyles.
Kuo unveiled that the iPhone Plus only makes up 5% to 10% of iPhone shipments, explaining why Apple would discontinue the model. Though, the introduction of the iPhone Slim looks risky, especially if you count the single-rear camera.
