Would you look at that, your Apple TV is much more powerful than your Android device!
Apple released its most recent Apple TV 4K model earlier this month. The A15 Bionic chipset that came with this new model is actually a binned version, according to a recent revelation.
According to information gathered from the TV Info app for tvOS, the new Apple TV 4K uses a binned version of the A15 Bionic chip, according to a FlatpanelsHD report. It also states that this chip has one CPU core that is disabled.
In other words, the third-generation 4K TV from the Cupertino-based company is driven by a 5-core CPU. For those who are unaware, this is the same chipset that is used in some iPhone 14 devices as well as the iPhone 13 series.
The type featured on iPhone devices, however, has a six core CPU. The most recent Apple TV model can still provide a performance gain of about 40% despite having a binned chip.
It still doesn’t throttle as much as the TV 4K from the previous generation, which uses the A12 Bionic chipset, despite having a fanless design as well. Unexpectedly, it was discovered that the new 4K TV was far faster than last-generation gaming consoles like the Xbox One.
The article also mentioned the possibility that the new TV’s 4K model’s binned A15 CPU may potentially include a 4 core GPU. Again, there is one fewer core in this GPU than in the five-core Apple iPhone 13 series.
Despite this, the new A15 Bionic offers a 30% increase in GPU performance over the previous generation version on the most recent TV 4K model.
