Users will have to pay extra for every account that’s been shared with family, friends or just another device–says Netflix
The announcement that password sharing will stop in March 2023 was made in a letter from Netflix to its stockholders. Remember that Netflix previously noted that users who shared their accounts with friends or family would be subject to additional charges.

According to the streaming service’s declaration, the paid sharing system would begin before the first quarter of 2023 comes to an end. According to the platform, there are approximately 100 million households that gain access to account-sharing payments made by other people, and this “undermines the strategic and long capacity to invest in and improve their services.”
Prior to now, Netflix also tried charging extra fees in parts of South America, where subscribers had to pay about three dollars (or about ₱160.00) for each additional person living in their home.
Netflix acknowledges that this change may make some current subscribers think twice about renewing their subscriptions, but it assures them that this will only last a short while and that as long as they continue to produce high-caliber content, engagement will increase.
Last but not least, Netflix also intends to launch “Profile Transfer” so that users of their platform who do not pay can transfer their accounts with ease.
