It’s the end of another era – RIP Nokia smartphones.
HMD Global officially discontinued Nokia-branded smartphones. So, if you see future devices resembling Nokia’s recent and past releases, they will have the HMD branding instead.

The discontinuation not only removed the Nokia branding but also axed many of its releases. Nokia’s website had 16 phones and 3 tablets, but now you’ll only see one, the Nokia G42 5G smartphone – a mid-ranger powered by the Snapdragon 480 chipset.
The better Nokia XR 21 has been axed. It was powered by Snapdragon 695 and featured MIL-STD-810H compliant, drop resistance of up to 1.8 meters, and IP68/69K dust and water resistance, capable of resisting water jets.
Keep in mind that only Nokia-branded “smartphones” are discontinued, which means Nokia-branded “feature phones” are still available. Despite the ending, Nokia is just out of the smartphone business.
This is because Nokia has over 56K patents worldwide, of which more than 26K are granted. Of the 56K patents, over 59% remain active. Nokia holds around 20K unique patent families to this day.
Nokia shaped the mobile phone industry for decades, from the original cellular phones to smartphones. The brand even acquired a mobile OS called Symbian, which sadly didn’t stand a chance against Android and iOS.
