Nothing drops its first budget phone: the Phone (3a) Lite

A promotional image featuring four sleek smartphones, the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, tilted and overlapping. Two are white and two are dark/black, all displaying a dual-camera system and a distinctive, small rectangular red/orange accent on the back panel. The branding "UNBOX DIARIES" is in the top right, and large text across the image says "[3a] LITE." A yellow banner at the bottom reads, "Nothing drops its first budget phone: the Phone (3a) Lite."

Without any fuss or fanfare, Nothing has just launched its first ever entry into the budget smartphone segment, the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite.

Without any fuss or fanfare, Nothing has just launched its first ever entry into the budget smartphone segment, the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite.

Some of you might be wondering why I used the term “first ever” when Nothing already has similarly spec’d phones in its lineup like the CMF Phone2 Pro.

CMF used to be the entry level lineup under the more premium Nothing Phone brand, but ever since the news broke that it’s going solo, that’s no longer the case.

Just a rebadged CMF Phone2 Pro?

Maybe. On paper, the Phone (3a) Lite and the CMF Phone2 Pro are basically the same device, with the only real difference being the chassis.

Speaking of the chassis, the Phone (3a) Lite carries the design language first popularized by the brand’s first true flagship, the Nothing Phone (3). Love it or hate it, the Phone 3 definitely offered a unique take on smartphone design.

But for those who weren’t sold on the Phone (3)’s look, the Phone (3a) Lite offers a more toned down version of that unusual camera setup. The only downside is that it no longer has the signature Glyph Interface that the brand has been known for or the Glyph Matrix that the Phone (3) popularized.

Instead, it features what the brand calls “Glyph Light” at the lower right side of the rear panel. It’s a small light that flashes to notify you of incoming calls or messages and even acts as a camera countdown for group shots. It’s also customizable, so you can set a specific lighting pattern for certain contacts.

When will it be available?

There’s no word yet on a local release, but the brand has already announced US, European, and UK prices for the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite. The 8GB plus 128GB variant retails for USD 249 (around ₱14,644.68), while the 8GB plus 256GB version goes for USD 279 (around ₱16,412.31).

Final Thoughts

The Phone (3a) Lite might not be a game changer, but it’s a smart move for Nothing to finally step into the budget arena under its own name. It looks clean, packs capable hardware, and still carries that signature Nothing design flair—even if it’s missing the full Glyph setup.

If it lands in the Philippines at around the converted price, it could be a solid option for those who want a stylish, reliable phone without breaking the bank. It’s not exactly new, but for fans of the brand who’ve been waiting for a more affordable entry point, the Phone (3a) Lite might just hit the sweet spot.
