Based on recent announcements and reports, Nothing is beginning to tease Nothing OS 4.0, its latest software update based on Android 16. The update is expected to roll out to the Nothing Phone (3) first, with the company aiming for a release in late Q3 2025.

Key Features and Upgrades

Nothing OS 4.0
  • Refined Design: The new OS will feature a refreshed UI with redesigned icons and a cleaner visual style, maintaining Nothing’s signature aesthetic.
  • AI Integration: The update is expected to include more AI features, specifically for the Gallery app, which will offer smarter photo organization and editing tools.
  • Camera Improvements: Nothing is rumored to have improved its camera app with this update to reduce shutter lag and enhance image quality.
  • Glyph Interface: New Glyph features are expected, including dynamic ringtones and improved Caller ID integration.

The new OS is built on Android 16, so it will inherit key features from Google’s latest platform. This includes smarter notifications with live updates and enhanced security protections to better safeguard user data.

Update Schedule and Device Support

The rollout is planned for this autumn, with a beta program already underway for the Nothing Phone (3). The Nothing Phone (2) is also confirmed to receive the update. However, the original Nothing Phone (1) will not get Nothing OS 4.0, as it has reached the end of its three-year software update cycle. To thank its loyal users, Nothing’s CEO has announced a special “program” for Phone (1) owners, though details are still unconfirmed.
