Better HDR captures are now possible with Nothing Phone (2), thanks to the new Ultra XDR camera feature.
Nothing just rolled out the latest Nothing OS 2.5.5 update and it adds a plethora of new features and improvements, particularly on the Nothing Phone (2).
The main new feature in this software update is the integration of ChatGPT. So, if you’re an avid user of this AI and Nothing Phone (2), prime that update progress on your phone now.
Apart from ChatGPT, the update also adds the new Ultra XDR for the camera app. You can see this under the Camera settings. Ultra XDR enhances HDR photos by increasing brightness accuracy for a natural look. Enabling this may lead to a higher image file size though.
A handy camera tool has been added as well. This is the HDR switch for both Photo and Portrait modes. You can enable/disable it via Settings at the top.
Another tool introduced by the update is the RAM Booster found under Settings > System. It basically frees memory and may lead to faster phone performance. Although benefits are yet to be discovered, at least Nothing Phone (2) users finally have a native version of this function.
Other new additions from Nothing OS 2.5.5 include:
- Ring Mode in Quick Settings
- Recorder widget
- Battery widget
- Glyph Interface Debug Mode under the Developer Options
The update also features several improvements, such as enhanced system stability, NFC functionality, and Wi-Fi connection stability. Flickering when launching apps from the Quick Settings on the lock screen and on the AOD interface have been resolved, among many other fixes.
If your Nothing Phone (2) isn’t receiving the update yet, be patient as it rolls out gradually per region.
