One toggle to end them all: Xiaomi testing ads disabler

New HyperOS feature will finally let users control their ad experience with a single button.

Besides Android OS, Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO have one thing in common: ads. Many users disliked this trend on Xiaomi and it’s one of their reasons why they switched teams.

That’s why the company is working on a single toggle to enable/disable system-wide ads. Yes, throughout the entire device!

While ads can be disabled on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO mobile devices, users find it troublesome because they have to go through every app and system area to do it. The upcoming toggle can solve this with a single touch!

So, is the toggle easy to find? It looks like Xiaomi isn’t entirely hiding it. Just enter “ads” on the search bar within the Settings menu and you’ll get the Ads section. Toggle the Ads in System Apps to turn on or off the annoying ads.

The implementation may appeal to two groups of users. Those who don’t want any ads at all and those who don’t mind occasional ads. Either case is a win for Xiaomi, which will continue to generate revenue from ads.

As of writing, the toggle appears to be a HyperOS feature.
