Samsung DeX users shouldn’t worry about the app itself because it’s staying.
The One UI 7 custom skin for Samsung devices features many changes and improvements. That said, some things would be going to the chopping block.
The latest leak showed that Samsung will drop the support of Samsung DeX for Windows. If you’re not aware, this feature lets Samsung users mirror their Galaxy smartphones with their Windows PC. It’s a handy way to drag and drop files across platforms.
According to a report, the tech giant seems to be encouraging Windows users to take advantage of the Link to Windows feature, offering a similar experience. When a Galaxy smartphone is linked via this feature, users can access messages, images, and apps and even continue their workflow with Recent Apps and Recent Websites.
Keep in mind that the decision only affects DeX’s support for Windows. The Samsung DeX app itself isn’t going anywhere.
Besides that, the third-party edge panels will no longer be supported by One UI 7. But new features like Sketch to Image, 3D Cartoon, new icons, a new lock screen, and a smart notification center are included in this major upgrade.
