OnePlus 13T leaked image reveals a familiar design

Renders show a familiar design for the OnePlus 13T, a certain Chinese phone from 5 years ago…

Known tipster Digital Chat Station shared a high-quality render of the OnePlus 13T, giving us a glimpse of the highly anticipated smartphone. We’ve previously covered the rumored internals of the 13T, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a humongous battery.

Echoes of Past in the Camera Module?

Those with a keen eye for smartphones will harken back to the Xiaomi Mi 11 when met with the leaked renders. The element that brings us back to the Mi 11 is the rear camera module which features a distinct rounded-square island instead of the usual centered circular modules seen on recent OnePlus models.

The module which was reportedly framed in metal, contains two or three lenses alongside an LED flash. It looks like OnePlus aimed to differ from previous version but instead echoed the design cues from a few years ago.

Adopting Familiar Industry Trends

Apart from the similar camera module, the 13T also features some familiar trends within the smartphone market which include a flat side, and the adoption of a Quick Key similar to Apple’s action button.

Additionally, the leak also revealed the 13T’s colorways. The previous Cloud Ink Black and Morning Mist Gray are still present, but now there’s a Heartbeat Pink which looks like a pastel shade with a “velvet glass” finish.

OnePlus is playing it safe with the 13T, instead of reinventing the wheel, they want something that feels recognizable and safe, banking on the comfort of familiarity. We’ll definitely be on the lookout for the 13T once it launches.
