Leaks surrounding the upcoming OnePlus 16 continue to surface ahead of its expected debut later this year, and the latest information points to a major hardware upgrade across performance, display, battery, and camera departments.
According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 is expected to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset carrying the SM8975 model number. The chip is reportedly capable of reaching clock speeds of up to 5GHz, positioning the device among the next wave of high-performance Android flagships.
The leak also adds more details about the phone’s display. Earlier reports claimed the device could feature at least a 185Hz refresh rate, with OnePlus internally testing support for up to 240Hz. The latest leak now mentions a BOE-made flat display with an “ultra-high refresh rate,” further backing those earlier claims.
The panel is also said to use LTPO technology alongside LIPO packaging to significantly reduce bezel size. According to the leak, bezels could shrink to around 1mm on all four sides. However, it remains unclear whether the final retail version will officially launch with full 240Hz support, as testing is reportedly still ongoing.
On the camera side, the OnePlus 16 is once again tipped to feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. Previous reports suggested the sensor may fall within the 1/1.x-inch category, hinting at a relatively large sensor size for improved zoom performance and low-light photography.
The rest of the rear camera system is expected to include:
- 50MP primary camera
- 50MP ultra-wide camera
- 200MP periscope telephoto camera
Battery capacity could be another headline feature of the device. Digital Chat Station’s latest leak mentions a possible maximum battery capacity of 9,000mAh. Another tipster had previously shared the same figure, adding more weight to the rumor.
If accurate, that would make the OnePlus 16 one of the largest-battery flagship smartphones in its category.
