Early leaks suggest the OnePlus 16 is shaping up to be a major leap in display and imaging technology for the brand’s next flagship. According to emerging reports, the phone could debut with an ultra-fast refresh rate display beyond 200Hz and a 200-megapixel main camera, underlining OnePlus’s push to match and exceed current flagship standards.
Ultra-Smooth Display Rumored

One of the standout highlights in the leaked details is the 200Hz+ refresh rate display. Currently, most flagship phones max out at 120Hz or 144Hz, with only a few premium models pushing above that. A panel capable of exceeding 200Hz would deliver exceptionally smooth motion in UI navigation, gaming, and scrolling, potentially giving the OnePlus 16 a noticeable edge in fluidity and responsiveness.
It’s still unclear whether the high refresh rate will be static or dynamically adjusted based on content, but the expectation is that the OnePlus 16 will continue to use LTPO or similar adaptive technology to balance performance and battery life.
200MP Main Camera

Another headline feature in the leaks is a 200MP main camera sensor on the rear. A specification that has become increasingly popular among Android flagships seeking to push high resolution and pixel-binning performance. While a high megapixel count doesn’t always guarantee better images, it does offer flexibility for cropping, zooming, and capturing fine details in bright conditions.
The phone is also rumored to include multiple supporting sensors alongside the 200MP shooter, likely covering ultrawide and telephoto functions, though exact details on auxiliary lenses have not yet been disclosed.
Performance and Other Expected Features
Although the leak focused primarily on display and camera details, it’s widely anticipated that the OnePlus 16 will be powered by the latest high-end Qualcomm silicon, potentially the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or a similarly capable chipset paired with generous RAM and storage options to handle demanding apps and multitasking.
Other expected specs include a large battery with fast charging support, an AMOLED panel with vibrant colors, and software based on Android 16 with OnePlus’s OxygenOS on top.
Do you think a 200Hz+ display is actually useful on a smartphone?
