OnePlus Ace 5 gears up with unique chip and gamer-ready features

It looks like we’ll see another piece to the OnePlus Ace 5 puzzle as new rumors point to a new addition to the Ace 5 series, featuring a new chipset.

Goodbye Qualcomm, Hello MediaTek?

The new Ace 5 variant, which still hasn’t been named, will depart from using a Snapdragon chipset like its already launched brothers. Currently, the standard Ace 5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Ace 5 Pro steps up the heat with a Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The unknown Ace 5, on the other hand, will feature MediaTek’s new chip, the Dimensity 9400e, which promises a different flavor of high performance. It is one of the upcoming devices tipped to use the new chipset. As the name suggests, the D9400e is a slightly toned-down version of the D9400, and will directly compete with Snapdragon’s 8s Gen 4.

What’s new?

Leaks and benchmarks have indicated that the D9400e is a sort of step-up from the D9300 architecture, that still manages to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and possibly match the upcoming Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. It will probably maintain the D9400’s all big-core CPU design to implement advanced AI capabilities and enhanced gaming features but at a more accessible price point.

The more, the merrier

The move seems to point to OnePlus’ strategy to cater a wider range of users and market segments. As for the other specs, it will most likely feature almost the same specs as its brethren. Including a large and bright AMOLED display, versatile triple-camera system, and a substantial battery with fast charging.

Although like we’ve seen with the Ace 5, the global version might be released under a different name, just like the 13R.

We’ll definitely be on the lookout for this unnamed Ace 5 variant because it will surely be a fine addition to the roster of this year’s affordable flagship smartphones. So, stay tuned to our official channels to make sure you’re updated.
