Alright, foldable fans, put a pin in that for just a second. Let’s shift gears to something a little different but just as exciting in the smartphone world: the ever-popular mid-range market. And guess who’s getting ready to shake things up? OnePlus, with their rumored Nord 5!

The leaks are starting to trickle in, painting a picture of a device that could seriously disrupt the segment. Forget minor incremental updates; if these whispers are accurate, the Nord 5 might be gearing up to deliver some flagship-level features without the flagship price tag.
Leading the charge is the rumored MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset. This isn’t your average mid-range silicon; it suggests OnePlus is aiming for a significant leap in performance, promising a snappier, more capable experience for everyday tasks and gaming alike.
The display is also sounding like a winner. We’re hearing talk of a 1.5K OLED flat panel boasting a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. That means crisp visuals and buttery-smooth scrolling β exactly what you want whether you’re doomscrolling through feeds or getting lost in your favorite mobile game. Plus, an in-display fingerprint sensor adds a touch of modern convenience.
Camera details suggest a familiar setup: a 50MP main sensor with OIS paired with an 8MP ultrawide on the back, and a 16MP selfie camera up front. While the megapixel count might sound standard, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that OnePlus brings some improved processing or new features to really make these cameras sing.
Now, let’s talk power β and this is where things get particularly interesting. The buzz is all about a potential 7000 mAh battery. That’s a massive cell that could translate into seriously impressive longevity, potentially pushing two days of usage for many people. And when you finally need to top up, 100W wired charging is rumored to be on board, meaning minimal downtime tethered to an outlet. (We did see some mentions of a 6650 mAh rated capacity and 80W charging in some spots, but the 7000 mAh/100W combo seems to be the more prominent rumor β we’ll see which one sticks!).
Other goodies reportedly in the mix include dual speakers for a better audio experience, a handy IR blaster, a premium-feeling glass back, and a sturdy plastic frame.
The rumored price point in India is around Rs 30,000. If OnePlus can deliver these rumored specs at that price, the Nord 5 could be an absolute steal and a major headache for the competition.
Of course, until OnePlus officially pulls back the curtain, these are still leaks and rumors. But based on what we’re seeing, the OnePlus Nord 5 is shaping up to be a seriously exciting prospect in the mid-range arena, bringing a potent mix of performance, display tech, and potentially incredible battery life. Keep an eye out for the official launch, expected around June or July 2025!
