OpenAI rolls out year-end ChatGPT recap inspired by Spotify Wrapped

OpenAI has begun rolling out a new year-end recap feature for ChatGPT users, offering a personalized summary of each person’s 2025 activity with the AI. Branded “Your Year with ChatGPT,” the experience takes inspiration from Spotify’s popular Wrapped feature and presents users with statistics, awards, and creative content based on how they engaged with the chatbot throughout the year.

What Is “Your Year with ChatGPT”?

The recap provides a personalized breakdown of your ChatGPT usage over the past year. It highlights key metrics such as the number of messages you sent, your most active day, and the major topics you discussed. In addition to stats, the feature generates fun awards (e.g., “Creative Debugger” for problem-solving use) and even creative content like a custom poem and a pixel art image based on your interests.

Availability and How It Works

At launch, the feature is available in select English-speaking regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It can be accessed by users on Free, Plus, and Pro plans, as long as they have reference chat history and saved memories enabled in their settings. Accounts under Team, Enterprise, or Education plans are not eligible at this time.

Users will see the recap promoted on the ChatGPT app’s home screen once it’s available to them. It’s optional and won’t pop up automatically or interrupt regular use; alternatively, you can trigger the recap by asking ChatGPT directly to show “Your Year with ChatGPT.”

What You’ll See in Your Recap

The recap experience blends informative metrics and creative highlights:

  • Total messages and most active day of the year
  • Top conversation themes and topics
  • User archetype or award reflecting your usage style
  • Custom poem about your year’s activity
  • AI-generated pixel art capturing your interests

This mix of stats, storytelling, and visual output mirrors the approach of annual summaries from apps like Spotify, LinkedIn, and Uber, but tailored to your AI interactions rather than music or professional activity.

A Privacy-Forward, Optional Experience

OpenAI emphasizes that the year-end recap is privacy-forward and under user control. It analyzes past interactions only when users have opted in by enabling memories and chat history, and users can choose whether to view or dismiss their recap at any time.

As the feature continues to roll out, more users around the world may gain access, giving ChatGPT fans a fun and insightful way to reflect on their AI usage trends as the year closes out.
