Even in 2022, the OPPO A57 5G still features a drop-notch display, with average bezels and a not-so-thick chin. But despite that, the phone is solidly built: glass front sa harap, with a plastic back and a plastic framing.
Nowadays, most people associate plastic with cheap, but these materials have evolved for better durability. Don’t worry about cracks, because the OPPO A57 5G isn’t prone to it. Konting ingat goes a long way.
On the right side of the phone is where you’ll find the power button with a fingerprint scanner, and the left side has the volume rocker buttons plus the sim tray. The top and bottom both have stereo speakers. The charging port USB-C and a 3.5 mm jack, something other phone manufacturer companies forget to put in.
The phone is available in Black, Blue, and Lilac. Despite measuring 163.8 x 75.1 x 7.99 mm, the phone is light, weighing only 186g.
The OPPO A57 5G excels in terms of design – premium looking with the flat and smooth back, plus the frame looks a bit like the iPhone series.
The OPPO A57 5G has a 6.56 inch display with an HD resolution of 1600×720. It has a 90Hz resolution which should be enough for general media consumption, but this isn’t a clear advantage for gaming.
The display has a max brightness of 600 nits which might not provide enough visibility under the sun, but it’s more than bright enough for regular indoor use.
One thing’s clear though: this phone doesn’t have that great of a display, but the 90Hz refresh rate SHOULD make up for it. Talagang yun lang ang selling point for the display.
Inside the OPPO A57 5G is the Mediatek Dimensity 810 5G chipset. This processor packs a lot of power and compensates for the lackluster screen. The Dimensity 810 5G chipset should be able to handle tasks while conserving battery power. At dahil nga mas maliit ang processor size neto, it complements the power hungry IPS display.
Missed opportunity din ang capability ng Dimensity 810 5G for the 120Hz refresh rate, but this may vary depending on country or storage, but so far, lahat ng OPPO A57 5G ay gumagamit ng 90Hz refresh rate.
It’s not optimized for gaming either, as the phone only uses a decent Mali G57 MC2 950MHz. This GPU is usually used in conjunction with the Helio G80, a chipset specifically made for gaming in the high, entry-level or low-end midrange device category.
Aside from the fingerprint scanner, meron din face unlock ang phone na ‘to, as well as an assortment of features that compensate for the hardware. This phone has a storage capacity of 128GB and RAM size of 8GB. The other variant has 6GB of RAM.
This phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery and comes with a 10W “fast” charger. While hindi mas mataas ang charging rate, at this point, you’re guaranteed a phone that will last long, however, 2022, at nag release na si OPPO ng phones with better charging speeds.
As for the camera, the OPPO A57 5G comes equipped with a triple camera setup. The main camera uses a 13MP sensor with wide angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The front camera fares a little better: the 8MP front facing camera captures decent selfies, at meron itong several shooting modes.
Despite the small sensor sizes, with the rear camera sporting only 13MP and the front camera at 8MP, these capture more accurate images and has better image reproduction than its 50 MP counterparts.
OPPO really is a camera phone so it has a multitude (as in sobrang dami) shooting modes and presets. Some of these include night scene, portrait, long exposure, AI, text, ultra-HDR, and more.
OPPO fans will appreciate the camera quality once they have the phone, at dahil nga meron na rin itong 5G, it’s going to be a breeze uploading OOTDs and instagrammable food pics.
Both cameras also have a recording quality of 1080p at 30fps, which makes it great for vlogging or just recording moments of your life.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
The OPPO A57 5G is not yet available in the Philippines and is exclusive to China for the mean time. It’s priced at around CNY1500, which should convert to almost PHP12,000. For its design, camera, and chipset (and the 5G bonus), it’s a good phone to buy in the higher-end of entry-level phones. Or more accurately, on the lower side of mid-range phones.
