The last time OPPO’s A77 was released, it was way back in 2017. Five years later, the company is giving it an upgrade – 5G. It’s an upgrade over its predecessor, the OPPO A76, released in March, which featured a decent set of features, save for the missing upgrade to its network connectivity.
The leaks were found on several certification websites. According to the listing on the Geekbench website, the OPPO A77 5G will have a Mediatek Dimensity processor, which would be an upgrade to OPPO A76’s Qualcomm SD 680 chipset.
If the company does decide to manufacture the units using only the Mediatek Dimensity chipsets, this means a cheaper price tag and slightly better performance.
Based on the number of cores used and the types present, the OPPO A77 5G will most likely have the MediaTek Dimensity 810. Compared to the OPPO A76’s SD 680, the Dimensity 810 outperforms it in terms of gaming and CPU performance and is almost similar in terms of battery life.
The OPPO A77 5G will be running on Android 12 with OPPO’s very own ColorOS. For storage, the unit will have 6GB of RAM which should be more than enough for the casual Mobile Legends gamer. Internal storage is capped at 128GB, again, based on Dimensity 810’s capabilities.
There’s good news about its display too. If the OPPO A76 only had a 90Hz refresh rate, then the new unit will have a 120Hz refresh rate and an even higher resolution FHD+ display.
We should also be expecting better cameras this time. The OPPO A76 only had 13MP for the main camera, but the Dimensity 810 SoC on the OPPO A77 5G will support up to 64MP. There should also be an improvement in the secondary and macro or depth cameras this time, as the OPPO A76 only had a 2MP “mono” camera alongside the 13MP main camera.
There’s not much information about its battery size or charging speeds, but hopefully OPPO A77 5G adopts the 33W fast charging and the 5000mAh battery present on the A76 unit.
