OPPO is seemingly looking to broaden its A-series lineup with the upcoming OPPO A80 5G. According to recent leaks by 91Mobiles, this device could be a rebranded version of the OPPO A3 Energy Edition available in China.
Slick, with a flat-edged design and a punch-hole display, the A80 5G is pretty trendy. At its core lies a rather mid-range makeup: the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage offer seamless everyday performance. Its 6.67-inch HD+ panel also comes with silky-smooth refresh rates of 120Hz and 1,000 nits peak brightness for highly bright visuals.
While the A80 5G is looking towards affordability, there’s a rather no-frills camera setup: a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth lens handling the rear photography, while an 8MP front camera caters to selfie enthusiasts.
The battery comes in at 5,100mAh with 45W SuperVOOC fast charging. Software-wise, the device runs Oppo’s ColorOS 14.0.1, based on Android 14. Other features include a fingerprint sensor mounted sideways, IP54 water resistance, a headphone jack, NFC, and AI enhancements to photography and battery life.
With a competitive price of €249, about ~₱15,719.57, for the 8GB/256GB model, the OPPO A80 5G has everything going for it as a budget offering to those who want a balance of style, performance, and features. There is no release date yet, but be sure to keep watch on this space.
