OPPO may be preparing a major camera upgrade for the Find X10 Ultra.
According to a new leak from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming flagship could feature a much larger sensor for its 10x periscope telephoto camera. The move would help improve one of the few weaknesses found on the current OPPO Find X9 Ultra.
The Find X9 Ultra, which launched earlier this year, is considered one of the best camera phones of 2026 alongside the vivo X300 Ultra. It features a Hasselblad-tuned camera system that includes a rare 50MP 10x periscope telephoto camera with a 230mm equivalent focal length.
The phone can also deliver up to 20x “optical-quality” zoom through advanced image processing. However, its 10x camera uses a relatively small 1/2.75-inch sensor, which struggles more in low-light situations compared to the larger 3x periscope camera found on the same device.
That could change with the Find X10 Ultra.
Digital Chat Station claims OPPO is testing a much larger 1/1.95-inch sensor for the phone’s 50MP 10x periscope camera. While the resolution is expected to remain at 50MP, the bigger sensor should capture more light, reduce image noise, and produce better photos in dark or challenging lighting conditions.
The tipster also revealed that the sensor will not be Sony’s LYT-600, although its exact model remains unknown for now.
The leak suggests development of OPPO’s 2027 Hasselblad flagship is progressing smoothly. This comes as some competing Ultra smartphones, including Xiaomi’s upcoming Ultra models, are reportedly facing delays.
Unfortunately, details about the rest of the phone are still scarce. There is currently no information regarding the display, battery, or other camera upgrades.
Even so, OPPO’s strategy makes sense. Instead of relying heavily on digital zoom, the company continues to improve its true 10x optical zoom system, which already uses advanced quintuple-prism periscope technology.
By improving long-range zoom performance, OPPO is trying to make smartphone photography feel even closer to using a dedicated camera.
If this upgrade makes it into the final product, the OPPO Find X10 Ultra could become one of the strongest long-zoom camera phones on the market when it launches in 2027.
