OPPO Reno14 Leaks: Brace Yourself for That Camera Island

Just when you thought smartphone designs were settling into a comfortable, slightly predictable groove, OPPO is apparently ready to toss the rulebook out the window again. Fresh leaks of the upcoming OPPO Reno14 have just landed, giving us our clearest look yet at the phone, and honestly, my eyes immediately went to that camera setup. It’s… a statement.

If these new renders and live images are legit (and they’re coming from sources who are usually pretty spot-on with this stuff), the Reno14 series is getting a serious visual refresh, especially around the back. Forget those standard bumps or squares; OPPO seems to be going for something totally different with the camera island this time.

That Camera Design is… Bold

Okay, let’s dissect this camera module because it’s the main talking point. It looks almost like two separate elements fused together, or maybe even inspired by classic camera lenses? We see a prominent, circular lens housing that strongly suggests a periscope telephoto camera. That’s exciting because getting a periscope on a Reno series phone would be a pretty big deal, bringing serious zoom capabilities to this lineup. Leaks point to it being a 50MP sensor with 3.5x optical zoom – perfect for getting closer to the action without everything turning into a pixelated mess.

Beside that periscope, within the same unique island, are the other two lenses. Rumors suggest we’re looking at a 50MP main sensor with OIS (thank goodness for optical stabilization!) and an 8MP ultrawide. While that 8MP ultrawide might raise a few eyebrows in 2025, the inclusion of both a high-res main camera and a periscope telephoto definitely gives the Reno14 a unique edge in the photography department.

Beyond the Lenses: Flat Screens, Metal Frames, and a Mystery Button?

The design tweaks don’t stop with the cameras. It seems OPPO might be listening to user feedback because the leaks suggest a move to a flat display on the Reno14, ditching the curved edges of some predecessors. Personally, I’m a fan of flat screens, so this is a welcome change! Expect a nice 1.5K resolution OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.

The phone appears to sport a sleek metal frame, which always adds a touch of premium feel. Plus, there’s talk of IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, meaning it should be pretty durable against the elements – always good to know. And here’s a fun little rumor: the Pro model might even get a customizable “Magic Cube” button, kind of like an Action Button for the Android world.

As for what’s powering this revamped device, leaks hint at MediaTek’s capable Dimensity 8350 or maybe even the higher-end Dimensity 9200. Battery-wise, expect a solid capacity, possibly around 6000mAh, with OPPO’s signature fast charging, likely 80W SuperVOOC.

When Can We See It?

OPPO usually keeps the Reno series on a roughly six-month cycle. Given the Reno13 launched late last year, the Reno14 series is likely aiming for a launch in China around May or June. A global release would probably follow later on.

So, yeah, the OPPO Reno14 is shaping up to be a pretty interesting phone. That camera design is definitely going to be a talking point, but the potential inclusion of a periscope lens, a flat screen, and expected strong performance make it one to keep an eye on in the coming months.

What do you think of that camera bump?
