POCO chose not to made such a splash in launching the M7 Pro 5G in the Philippines. Missed opportunity if you asked us, especially with the M7 Pro 5G’s stellar specs for just under 10k.
What’s new?
First, let’s talk about the device. The M7 Pro 5G’s design sports a two-tone marble-like finish with colors comprising green, silver, and purple. As for the screen, the M7 Pro 5G boasts a 6.67-inch 1080p AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, making it an entertainment powerhouse at a fraction of the cost.
For protection, POCO decided to instill the device with an IP64 dust and water resistance, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for the screen.
Under the hood, the M7 Pro 5G packs quite a punch because of the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset. Couple that with either 8 or 12GB of high-speed RAM and 256GB of fast storage. And need I mention that it’s expandable via a microSD card up to 1TB?
Camera performance has also been improved, with the M7 Pro 5G being equipped with a 50 MP Sony LYT-600 main shooter with an aperture of f/1.5, plus an added 2 MP depth sensor for those bokeh shots. Selfies are also expected to improve, especially with a 20 MP f/2.2 lens at the helm.
The battery also got a modest upgrade over the M6 Pro, an added 110 mAh over the M6 Pro’s 5,000 mAh battery. The M7 Pro 5G also supports 45W fast charging via the USB-C charging port.
We’re quite baffled as to why the M7 Pro 5G doesn’t come standard with HyperOS 2 out of the box, but we’re crossing our fingers it’ll get updated anytime soon. Regardless, we still think the M7 Pro 5G is still a media-consumption powerhouse, especially with the appearance of a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a Hi-Res audio certification.
