POCO M5 and POCO M5s, Officially Announced Na!

Once again, the king of mid-range quality smartphones–POCO, just announced the latest addition sa kanilang M series: ang POCO M5 at POCO M5s, let’s see what’s in store for us!

Ang napiling chipset naman para sa M5s (dubbed as ‘the fun magician’ is MediaTek Helio G95 just like last year’s M4 Pro. 6/128 GB din at may dynamic RAM expansion ang dalawang models.

For a quick rundown: ang POCO M5 ay available sa dalawang variants just like the past M4 Pro 5G. Available ito in either 4/64GB or 6/128GB. May memory extension din iyan like last year’s release, so technically may 6GB ka ng RAM if you choose the former, and 8GB of total RAM in the latter.

Octa-core na rin siya, fueled by a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for optimal performance. Pagdating naman sa display, the same IPS LCD, pero nabawasan ng .2 ang kaniyang screen size from 6 inch last year, to 6.58 naman ngayon, which is hindi naman drastic ang change.

Iba naman ang kargada ng POCO M5s, naka AMOLED ito with 1100 nits of peak brightness para sa outdoor use with 360 degrees ambient light sensor at reading mode version 3, may DC dimming din para iwas flickering. May magical dual speakers din sila for immersive audio experience. 409 ppi ang mayroon sa M5s.

Pero ang kakaiba dito sa POCO M5 (dubbed ‘the performance player’), mayroon siyang 90Hz again mula sa last year at puwede na mapababa din at 30fps via Dynamic Switch kung kailangan mag-conserve ng power, which is a win for all POCO fans out there. 244Hz naman ang touch sampling rate, which is really fast for an entry level phone, as dubbed by them.

May combination naman ng 50MP wide, 8MP ultrawide, at 2MP macro ang kaniyang rear camera habang 16MP naman ang kaniyang front cam. More close ang kaniyang cameras sa last year’s Poco M4 Pro (4G AMOLED variant) than the 5G version.

Sa POCO M5s, 64MP ang kaniyang main camera, 16MP front camera, 118 degrees ultra-wide mode sa rear, may natural bokeh din sa portrait at night mode at macro mode, seems like ka-same specs siya ng Poco M4 Pro AMOLED, and may 4k video capability.

Compared naman sa last year’s Android 11, naka-Android 12 na ito, yet still running on MIUI 13. Sa battery naman, retained ang 5000mAh at 18W fast charger from last year’s model. Pero ang biggest shocker dito, ay despite the advancements ay 4G lang ang kaya ng POCO M5. Despite this, naka-Game Turbo 5.0 na siya with 60FPS sa Free Fire.

Ang POCO M5s naman on the other hand, 5000mAh din at parehas may IP53 rating meaning, splash and dust resistant ang models. Up to 1TB naman ang kaniyang expandable storage.

Available siya sa tatlong colors which are Grey, Blue, and POCO Yellow; and for the POCO M5s naman, available siya in the following colors: Grey, White, and POCO Yellow also. Ang price ng 4/64 GB ng 189 euros (with 169 euros as early bird price) 209 euros (o 229 euros sa early bird) sa 6/128GB. Sa M5s naman, ang 4/64GB variant ay 209 euros (189 euros sa early bird) at 229 euros (o 209 euros sa early bird) sa 6/128GB variant.

Magiging available ang both POCO models sa September 6 habang wala pang news about sa release date sa mga physical stores.

Excited na kami dito sa Unbox Diaries na ma-review ang the following smartphones na ito, to test kung ano na nga ba ang mga improvements ng both models compared sa last year’s M4 series — at kung ang changes at improvements nito ay for the better or for the worse.
