POCO X5 Unboxing and First Impressions

This unboxing and first impressions features the brand new midrange hero with a productive but inexpensive processor and impressive gaming capabilities. This smartphones is non other that the POCO X5

Unboxing

POCO made sure that the X5 does not look mediocre at all starting with the packaging. The specific variant we have is the black one which comes in a matte black box in bold yellow font which is really catchy but finesse in my opinion.

As you open the box you find the usual components you would expect to find in a midrange smartphone, that is the jelly case, 33W Adapter with a Type C charging cable , some user manuals , sim ejector and the device itself. Now let’s focus on the device.

Design

The phone has a plastic casing which still looks pretty neat, the combination of a sleek triple camera, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a frameless display looks respectable and decent. The surfaces seem to be prone to scratches so I would highly suggest slapping on the free jelly case as soon as you start using it to protect the bad boy.

Its important to note that POCO still did a great job by still including the dedicated headphone jack which most smartphones skip these days but is still relevant.

Display

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display provides an immersive viewing experience with a 120-Hz refresh rate, image quality at a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, and brightness that is comparable to that of its competitors. The small camera hole punch also ensures the least distraction while using the phone

Perfomance

Playing games like Mobile Legends on the POCO X5 takes mobile gaming to another level surprisingly for such a price point. The phone can handle high graphics games, not to forget the capability of Ultra HD Graphics.

Everything about the POCO X5’s specs and features is excellent in terms of price. While not a flagship processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 produces extremely respectable benchmark scores and, of course, good gaming performance when combined with 6GB or 8GB of RAM with the Adreno 619 video accelerator.

Even resource-intensive games like Diablo Immortal and Genshin Impact work amazingly well at low to medium graphic settings. The functionality of the chipset is also apparent when using the device regularly. Instant-start browsers, media players, and instant messengers are all available. 128/256GB of ROM are allotted for data storage and are easily expandable with MicroSD cards.

Camera

The camera modules comprises a 48, 8 and 2 megapixels which offer a sizable selection of shooting capabilities. Photos taken during the day are exceptionally detailed and saturated; dynamic settings pose no issues. Night images are still impacted by the absence of optical stabilization, but a unique photo mode makes it easier to keep the details in these shots.

For the sound, even though the loudness is not exceptionally loud, stereo sound is present and consistent. The addition of NFC contactless payments, Android 12 (MIUI shell), an infrared connector, and a reasonable pricing for the given specifications to the list of benefits will help boost sales of a great gadget overall.

PS: More details will be discussed in the full review.

Pricing and availability

POCO X5 5G will come in three colors: Green, Blue, and Black. It will also be available in two variants: 6GB/128GB which will be costing PHP14,999 and 8GB/256GB which will be going for PHP15,999.
