Pro Battle: Infinix GT 20 Pro vs. TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G

Need a new phone? Let’s scrutinize the gaming-centric Infinix GT 20 Pro and camera-focused TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G.

During the second quarter of the year, Infinix and TECNO rolled out two identical yet distinct offers for Android users. Infinix launched the second-generation GT smartphone while TECNO released the next-generation CAMON series. So, which Pro model best suits you?

Aesthetics

The design is the one of the biggest differences between the Infinix GT 20 Pro and TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G, catering to a particular lifestyle that reflects a user’s personality.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro features a mecha design and looping LED interface at the back. The LED interface has four basic illumination patterns: Breathe, Meteor, Rhythm, and Gradient. Another interesting addition is the magnetic mechanism for its exclusive mecha game cooling accessory.

The TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G features a camera-like design, especially when you hold it in landscape mode. The camera module is massive and circular with a light indicator that shows various statuses, such as charging and video recording. The texture of the back is hydrophobic, perfect for sweaty hands.

If you’re a pro gamer, gamer at heart, or even a cosplayer, the Infinix GT 20 Pro will surely match your outfit and persona. If you’re a photo enthusiast, fashionista, or traveler, the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G will likely match you better.

Display

From the back to the front, both the Infinix GT 20 Pro and TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G sport an AMOLED screen with a size of 6.78 inches, resolution of 1080p, and even max refresh rate of 144 Hz. These two even have the same punch hole cutout for their selfie shooters and TUV Rheinland Certification to help reduce eye strain during use.

Quality and resolution are basically the same on these two, however, the Infinix GT 20 Pro gets an edge because it’s a gaming phone. It comes with a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz, as opposed to the 240 Hz of the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G, and instant touch sampling rate of 1,500 Hz.

The Pixelworks gaming chipset also elevates the gaming experience on GT 20 Pro, letting you play games at 120 FPS. CAMON 30 Pro 5G can also run games at 120 FPS but it can’t force games that only support up to 60 FPS.

Performance

So, what powers these two mid-range smartphones? It’s the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate, which scores around 940K on AnTuTu. While their respective AnTuTu scores may vary, their raw performance is the same in the real world. The other factors affecting that include software optimization, bloatware, and extra features.

About the memory, both the Infinix GT 20 Pro and TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G have one configuration: 12+256 GB. The RAM is big enough to maintain several apps for multitasking, but the internal storage is a bit small.

If you pick Infinix GT 20 Pro, the 256 GB will be chunked by AAA titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves. If you pick TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G, the 256 GB won’t be enough for lots of high-resolution video recordings. You have to use cloud storage eventually to free the phone’s storage.

For gaming, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is the better choice because of these:

  • Sensory Gaming: Feel every motion and vibration when gaming.
    • Gyroscope Enhancement
    • Tilt controls
    • X-axis linear motor
  • Seamless Connection: Optimal placement of hardware parts for wireless connectivity.
    • 5G antenna remapping
    • Wi-Fi 6 support
  • Bypass Charging: Game while charging with optimal charging port design.

Don’t underestimate the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G because it can run games as well. It’s even equipped with a nine-layer cooling system to rapidly disperse heat and X-axis linear motor for immersive vibrations.

Camera

If gaming is the edge of the Infinix GT 20 Pro, enter the realm of the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G. This is a vlogging smartphone equipped with a 1/1.56” Sony IMX890 rear sensor, which supports f/1.88, 2 µm fusion pixel, and optical image stabilization. It’s designed to capture details even under dim-lit conditions.

Besides that, the 50 MP front-facing camera boasts eye-tracking autofocus, perfect when you’re recording or live-streaming. It has a maximum focusing speed of 100 ms. No need to worry about the camera losing focus when you move.

The camera system includes support for Universal Tone to analyze and apply the optimal skin tone for Portrait shots. Other camera features of the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G include:

  • 50 MP wide-angle macro lens
  • 4K at 60 FPS Portrait video
  • AIGC Portrait
  • AI Erase

The Infinix GT 20 Pro can capture moments and scenes with its 108 MP main camera and handle video calls and selfies with its 32 MP front-facing sensor. It can record 4K at 60 FPS too!

Battery

Both the Infinix GT 20 Pro and TECNO CAMON Pro 5G are equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery for all-day use. They come with rapid charging support but the TECNO CAMON Pro 5G has a 70 W charging rate, beating the 45 W of the Infinix GT 20 Pro.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro gets around it with bypass charging, letting you use your phone comfortably while charging. The end of the USB-C cable is sideways to remove the ugly obstruction in portrait or landscape mode. Plug it in and game on!

Pricing

The Infinix GT 20 Pro and TECNO CAMON Pro 5G are priced similarly:

  • Infinix GT 20 Pro: ₱16,139 SRP
  • TECNO CAMON Pro 5G: ₱15,999 SRP

But they’re still receiving price slash during live on various online selling platforms. If you’re lucky, you may get the Infinix GT 20 Pro for as low as 14K with a free gaming kit, which costs 3K.

Final Thoughts

Choosing between the Infinix GT 20 Pro and TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G is a matter of preference rather than specs or features. They have the same processor, display panel, and memory configuration. The bottom line is usability: gaming over optics or vice versa.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is recommended for gamers who spend hours completing in-game tasks or climbing up the ranking ladder. This is why bypass charging is critical for them.

The TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G is recommended for vloggers and live sellers who prioritize engagement. The rapid and stable front-facing autofocus ensures that their face and eyes are on point, directly connected to their audience.
