realme has officially launched the realme Neo8 in China, marking a significant upgrade for the brand’s standalone Neo series with flagship-level performance and high-end design. The new device blends powerful hardware, a large battery, robust cameras, and a bold transparent RGB aesthetic to compete with other premium Android phones. Sales have begun immediately across Chinese channels.
Display and Design
The Realme Neo8 sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K Samsung M14 OLED display with a 165 Hz refresh rate and 3800 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, offering extremely smooth visuals and responsive touch performance. The panel also supports 100 percent DCI-P3 color coverage and can hit high peak brightness making it suitable for outdoor use.
One of the phone’s striking visual elements is its transparent RGB back panel, which uses a multi-layer 3D partitioning process to create dynamic light and shadow effects. realme’s signature Awakening Halo lighting system returns with customizable lighting effects for notifications, music and gaming. The phone’s body combines a metal frame and glass back, with ultra-narrow bezels and a solid, premium feel.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Neo8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform built on a 3 nm process, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage options up to 1 TB. The chipset drives fast performance across gaming, multitasking, and intensive workloads, and Realme pairs it with a high airflow cooling system and GT Performance Engine optimizations that support native 165 Hz gaming in numerous titles.
The phone runs Android 16 with Realme UI 7.0, bringing the latest software features on top of the hardware.
Battery, Charging and Durability
A standout specification is the 8,000 mAh battery, one of the largest seen in mainstream smartphones. realme claims the silicon-carbon battery design increases energy density while keeping the device’s thickness manageable. The phone supports 80 W SuperVOOC fast charging, bypass charging (which helps reduce heat during gaming), and wide compatibility with fast charging standards like UFCS, PD, and QC.
Durability is also a focus: the Neo8 carries IP66, IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings, offering protection against dust, splashes, and high-pressure water exposure. Additional hardware features include an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, NFC, infrared blaster, and a Crystal Armor glass front for scratch and drop protection.
Camera Capabilities
Photography on the realme Neo8 is handled by a versatile triple camera system. The setup includes a 50 MP Sony IMX896 main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50 MP JN5 periscope telephoto lens offering up to 3.5× optical zoom and up to 120× digital zoom, and an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor for broader shots. A 16 MP front camera sits at the top of the display for selfies and video calls.
