Smartphones have been getting bigger over the years, but REDMI may be ready to take things even further. A new leak suggests the company is developing a performance-focused smartphone with a 7-inch display, making it one of the largest flagship-class phones in recent years.
According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, REDMI is currently testing two upcoming smartphones. One is expected to feature a 6.59-inch display and target the mid-range Pro segment. The other is reportedly built around a much larger 7-inch screen aimed at users who prioritize performance.
While the tipster did not directly mention REDMI, their previous leaks have frequently been linked to the brand, making it likely that these devices belong to REDMI’s upcoming lineup.
This isn’t the first time a 7-inch REDMI phone has appeared in leaks.
Back in February, Digital Chat Station claimed that two smartphone brands were testing devices with 7-inch displays, although no names were revealed.
In early April, another report suggested REDMI was developing a smartphone with both a 7-inch display and a huge 10,000mAh battery. Later that month, another leak added that the device could feature a 2K-resolution display with a high refresh rate.
Those details also matched an earlier report about a rumored REDMI K100 series device, which was tipped to feature a 7-inch 2K display.
REDMI may not be the only company moving in this direction.
The same tipster recently claimed that HONOR is also developing a smartphone with a 7-inch display and a 185Hz refresh rate. Another rumored HONOR model is said to feature a 6.89-inch display powered by a next-generation 2nm chipset.
For comparison, most flagship smartphones today including the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Pro Max max out at around 6.9 inches.
If the latest leaks are accurate, smartphone makers could be pushing beyond today’s display size limits, with 7-inch flagship phones becoming more common in the near future.
